Since day one of Vopak selecting L-Con as its EPC General Contractor it's been a dash to the finish line for this schedule and logistically critical project. With the marine work including Dredging, Pilings, Ship Mooring / Breasting Structures and Concrete Structures progressing at a break-neck pace L-Con along with its Marine Works partner Orion Construction LP anticipates and expects this to be normal procedure to accommodate Vopak's logistics for shipping and operations.
With L-Con's Engineering and Detailed Design now essentially complete right on schedule, construction is well underway with the Ship Dock #3 Expansion Project. With the first two pipe rack modules to the new Ship Dock #5 now set on the pilings, work is underway to place the concrete deck for the first of the two hose tower structures. L-Con's construction management and field staff have performed an exemplary job in planning and executing the Fabrication, Preassembly and Installation efforts for setting the preassembled Modules on the dock completely assembled including mechanical and electrical assemblies. By utilizing L-Con's in-house Engineering capabilities and our own Fabrication Facilities, L-Con was able to design the structural and mechanical structures in the modular assemblies shown below which provide Vopak with minimum interruption to shipping operations during the installation process.

The project is well on schedule with completion of new Ship Dock #4 scheduled for March 2011. L-Con is now working on preassembly and modularization of the Ship Dock #5 pipe rack structures and hose tower for a target completion of December 2010. All goals for Safety, Quality and Productivity are being met and exceeded with every day.
